Even though I thought that this episode will be completed before today (Wednesday March 17, 2021), it is not. I have not found, yet, someone who wants to share her/his poetry on Music and Poetry, and there is no music on this episode.
However, I talked briefly about my former vinyl returning slowly to me plus some of my father’s vinyl from his collection. I had over 300 vinyl at one time, a lot of them were lost/stolen when I moved to USA the others were under my father’s custodianship.
Furthermore, in this intro I provided you with some facts about how much subscribers Spotify has gained in the last months, how much their stock has increased in value, and last but not least, how their business model -and other digital platforms- is hurting musicians. Be on the lookout for a special episode on this topic.
About my guest on this episode, I followed her for the last two years ago. Her guitar skills always put a spell on me. I have been trying always to set an interview with her, but was afraid to throw myself to the arena and approach her for this. It was not until last November 2020, that I reached out to her manager, Hilde Sorum, and query about her availability. Hilde replied immediately with an enthusiastic positive answer that Tora Dahle Aagard would gladly be on my podcast. Due to reasons out-of-my control, the interview did not happen on December, but it took place a few weeks back. This episode is recorded on video which I will upload next week.
My conversation with Tora about her music path, her nomination to Norway Grammy, and her band, among other topics, was full of energy, positive answers from a musician that, once the pandemic settles down, will stormed USA with her music and charismatic persona.
I can’t wait to see this happen and witness an amazing musician deliver her music as she can only do. You need to watch her Instagram account to see what I mean. Her I account is @toradaa. In addition, you can check her website at: https://thisistora.com/.
On Music and Poetry, I decided to read one of my favorite poets that I return to in these trouble times: Walt Whitman. Whitman’s poetry is full of music and melody. Every time I read him, I feel his powerful voice sing from far beyond and filling my spirit of joyous moments.
Whitman’s penmanship is well recognized internationally by many of his likes. He open a new dimension on poetry with his free style, and like every one else, he was not a saint; but his poetry redeemed him of any mistake he might have made in his lifetime.
