Shari Reiniger is a Talent and Performance Consultant living in Edmonton, Canada. She has been involved with baseball at the Provincial, National and International levels for over 20 years.
Shari grew up playing softball, field hockey and dancing on high school and college dance teams, which led her to teaching dance camps all over the US for her first 3 summers of college. She played two collegiate sports. Shari was a 2-time all-conference, switch hitting softball shortstop at Lassen College in California, where she won back to back conference titles and met her future husband, a baseball player from Canada. She then played field hockey at the University of Alberta, winning a bronze medal at Nationals and completing Education and Science degrees.
Shari became involved with baseball while living in Canada. She coached a community U13 baseball team of boys with her husband, chaired coaches selection committees, ran multiple tournament and Provincial Championship committees,
and served on the Board of Directors for two local organizations as well as managing her son’s travel team. She also continued to coach travel softball and played ladies top tier softball.
Shari was the head coach of the Team Alberta U13 Girls Baseball program for 2 years, running camps and clinics throughout the Province. She loved teaching competitive softball players how to transition to baseball and working with strong athletes. Shari also received an invite as a Team Canada guest coach.
Shari chaired the Baseball Alberta Playoff Committee who ran the provincial system of play. Shari recognized the need for a better system after her first year. She designed a system of play that took into consideration competition levels, commitment levels and travel distances for teams, with feedback from coaches and Boards across the Province. The tiered Provincial league system she implemented in 2004 is still being used to this day and is noted as a big factor in the ongoing yearly increases in numbers of baseball players in Alberta.
Shari sat on Baseball Canada’s initial Long Term Athlete Development committee which laid out the framework of guidelines for baseball programming in Canada. Shari worked as a Technical Commissioner at the first Women’s Baseball World Cup in 2004, being the only woman on the commission. Since then she has been assigned to TC roles at four Women’s, one U-15 and two U-18 Baseball World Cups, as well as the PanAm Games and the opening round at this year’s Premier 12, which serves as one of the Olympic qualifiers for Tokyo 2020. Shari worked as the Technical Director at the 2018 Women’s Baseball World Cup.
Shari is also a performance nutrition consultant and has worked with amateur, national team and professional athletes from a wide variety of sports. She is an avid Atlanta Braves fan and ventured to Cooperstown in 2018 with her family for Chipper Jones’ induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Her passion is performance, her purpose is to develop leaders and her love is the game of baseball.
