This week I’m speaking to Johanna Rossi, a British female artist and mother of two living in Monaco, who creates art that supports women through the self-doubt that many of us suffer from.
Johanna’s artwork is created to be the “proverbial lighthouse in your home during an internal ‘storm’”. It aims to accompany and support you on your own journey, reminding you of how far you have come, where you want to go, and that you are exactly where you need to be.
Overall, Johanna’s hope is that her art will support and encourage you through your insecurities, so that you find the courage to overcome your negative inner thoughts, find clarity in your actions, and have peace of mind with the choices you eventually make.
It was such a joy to speak with Johanna, because she is as honest as she is vulnerable, and creative as she is purposeful - and we covered a heck of a lot of awesome ground!
We talked:
How art has always been Johanna’s “life raft” that has kept her afloat through times of struggle, illness, mental distress and challenging life transitions
Johanna’s own super-varied career history, and why it’s OK (recommended, even!) to change your mind, pivot, re-think, and move jobs and projects throughout your life
Navigating the challenge and joy of having an entrepreneurial brain, and always having new ideas
How to trust the “whisper” in your head and follow your purpose as authentically as possible
The parallels between meditation and art, and why stillness is the secret to happier, more sustainable work
The constant tension between making art and making money
And how to follow your creative purpose without stifling pressure
I absolutely loved how open and real Johanna was in this conversation, and how willing she is to delve deep into her past and current struggles to explore how connected her art is to her sense of self-worth, purpose, and future plans.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone who is remotely creative - whether that’s in business, using paint, or with something else entirely - and anyone who has ever doubted their own worth, or wondered if they were on the “right path” in life (and how you would even KNOW that, in the first place).
This is for you.
