3 Steps To Get Your Most Important Goals Back On Track
Hi, I'm Pascale Gibon. Welcome to episode 159 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. Thank you for listening.
As you know, there are only four months left until the end of the year. Now that summer is coming to a close; it's time to get your most important goals back on track.
Your life situation might have been off balance and is slowly returning to a normal rhythm. If so, take the opportunity now to get your most important goals back on track and get clear about your exact steps for the next four months.
In today's podcast, I am going to share with you the steps you can take now to get your most important goals back on track.
The first step to getting your most important goals back on track is to Review.
You need to review where you are regarding the goals you set at the beginning of the year. According to research on success, we achieve most goals when we write them down. If you wrote down your plans for the year, it's time to review where you are. Are they completed or still outstanding. If it is the former, you must decide whether it is worth pursuing if it is still a priority or not. If it is a priority, you must commit to its accomplishment.
The second step to getting your most important goals back on track is to Plan:
I have shared with you before that from my experience what gets scheduled gets done. Therefore once you are clear about your most important goals, you must plan your high-value action steps which we help you move forward and get to your destination.
Here are four things you can plan:
#1: Set your most important goals for the next four months.
#2: Clearly define your high-value action steps which will help you achieve your most important goals.
#3: Be clear about your daily, weekly and monthly action steps.
#4: Identify the skills and resources you will need to achieve your most important goals.
The third step to getting your most important goals back on track is to Initiate:
Now that you have a clear plan, you need to work the Plan. To this effect, your third step is to initiate the daily, weekly and monthly action steps you set previously.
With a clear plan of your most important goals and high value daily, weekly and monthly action steps, you are well prepared to succeed.
However, to ensure that you follow the three steps: Review, Plan and Initiate to get your goals back on track:
Remember that done is better than perfect.
Review your list of goals daily and assess where you are at least weekly to review your implementation strategy.
Consistency is critical, therefore you must keep the momentum. However, if you get off track, go back to where you left off to keep the momentum going and commit to completion.
Remember the 80/20. 80% of your results come from 20% of your actions. You need, therefore, to take the right steps.
Commit to excellence. Once you start something, commit to its completion before you move on to something else.
