Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge, and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Wisp Resting, 2019.
Don’t let the pleasantly cool temperatures of the past two days fool you, our Sylph-casters are calling for tomorrow to be hot, clear, and calm – no, not even afternoon storms, though those should return mid week and stick around.
The gather is only three weeks away and I’ve been asked to remind everyone to get applications for stalls and tables in this week. Rumor has it we’re not only going to have a royal herald present, but the secret project our local weavers were working on will be revealed as part of the opening ceremonies.
The Shrinewatchers’ League spent the night of the full moon performing a different kind of rite. The rites they enacted this time around are meant to detect the presence of the shrine on the next full moon – which will be the week of Wisp Waning. I’m told that inns and taverns across the region are already being booked in anticipation of the shrine’s appearance.
Why yes, I have a growing sense of foreboding at this time. No, I don’t want to talk about it.
For those new to Eastfjord Harbor, and the Eastfjord Harbor area, and those who will be in town on the fifth day of Wisp Waking, please be aware that every lighthouse associated with the town will be projecting an umber color that night. This is a longstanding tradition recognizing the passing of Revani the Lightbringer, the Loboan lampmaker who took it upon herself to craft, install, and operate the first beacon to guide her husband’s ship home through the fjord. Her legacy lives on in our lighthouses, and without her actions it is likely that Eastfjord Harbor would still be a tiny fishing village.
The Caravanners’ League would like to thank the nearly two hundred applicants for work they’ve received in the past week. They’ve let me know every application is being reviewed and interviews will be scheduled next week.
We have an update on life with the houndlings of Valleywatch Keep. A goat and cattle farm near the keep has reported they were approached by a group of eight houndlings this week – 2 guards and 6 others who were carrying herbs and vegetables from their underground gardens. Trade was conducted in common that a four or five year old might use, but was successful. When asked if they would seek trade in the future, the houndlings simply answered “Maybe.”
Last in the news this week, the Feralix clans, yes both of them, report that the explorers they hired to visit underground cities are making excellent progress and have identified no fewer than four locations that could be made inhabitable with minimal efforts. That said, they’ve asked some of the adventuring groups to search the areas around the towns for wildlife that may pose a threat to future inhabitants.
The Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor are brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and otherworldly teas. Red Wombat: We Dig Tea.
